Lisa started training at Bad Company gym Leeds UK in 1993, when she started at University in Leeds. She fought at domestic level until 1995 when she won her first British Title. International recognition soon followed culminating in a European and 2 World Titles. Lisa has fought most of the major female names in the world in all disciplines of Boxing, Full Contact, Kickboxing and Thai-Boxing her preferred style.
She has traveled to U.S.A, Germany Italy, Thailand & France to fight and trains under her husband Richard Smith at Bad Company gym in Leeds UK, and also with former A.B.A Champion Glen Crawford who coaches her in Boxing. In 2000 she was a finalist in the prestigious Cosmopolitan Woman of Achievement awards and won the BBC Look North Sportswoman of the Year award in 2001. She is a schoolteacher, teaching Physical Education in Bradford where she is an example to the children that skill and talent are not always enough. Hard work, guts and determination are even more important and Lisa has all three. There is no doubt that these attributes are what have taken her to be World Champion. !
Lisa had a baby in 2004 and took some time out from her fighting but returned to the ring on 12 August 2005 to fight on the prestigious Queens Birthday event in Bangkok. She beat Lukying Petiyanan on points in a very exciting fight that shows that she is without a doubt back!
In January 2006 she fought again in Thailand stopping Nongnumwan Sor Bunthawee in round 3 and then in September of 2006 had her second baby Fergus. She is taking time out now but is in hard training and will fight again soon.
She teaches our Childrens classes and runs regular beginners courses for males and females called "KICKSTART" |
